Prayers to the Archangels
Archangels, like us, are a part of the energy of this Universe, the energy of all that Is. When we acknowledge their energy within ourselves, their strength and compassion, we catch a glimpse of the divine nature of our soul, for everything in this Universe is as one.
The seven archangels commonly referred to in our culture are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Chamuel, Jophiel and Zadkiel. These are actually Pseudo-Dionysius archangles. The list of seven primary archangels of, for example, Gregory the Great, Christian Gnostics, Talismanic Magic and others each differ slightly. Archangels are listed in various positions in the order of celestial hierarchy among the many sources, and they are each associated with various halls of heaven, planets, months of the year, even certain hours of each day and night.
There have been thousands of angels identified throughout history. If you choose to work with angel energy, I encourage you to take the time to find those angels or archangels that can help you with your particular issues and goals. Once you've chosen one you'd like to work with, put down any study material you may have been reading, and ask to have your own experience with the angel. Experiences with angels are very real, tangible, and may occur through signs, dreams, or even while awake. And remember to always express gratitude.
You may find the writings of Doreen Virtue and others helpful. Also, hundreds of angels are identified in A Dictionary of Angels by Gustav Davidson. In this book, the author delves into a fascinating world of angels, demons, heaven, hell... seemingly anything ever written about these celestial beings. Most of what we hear of angels is beautiful, kind and angelic, but the existence of Yin/Yang, light/darkness, good/evil, applies to everything in this universe, including angels. The book is a phenomenal reference source.
